Fast forward 1/2 hour--husband doesn't feel like playing poker, son's bbq has now moved to our house and guess who's cooking dinner for everyone? Perhaps tomorrow my intentions will be met, in the meantime I'm looking for the extra hot dog buns that I know are buried in the freezer.
WHERE HAS MY KNITTING MOJO GONE ?
The last knitting project I worked on was Kyle's cabled, hooded sweater. It is beautiful and it literally sucked the knitting life out of me. It pretty much sucked all my creative juices along with the life. I didn't even want to look at yarn, touch yarn, knit with yarn or plan any projects. Not like me at all.
I started listening to a few knitting pod casts. There are plenty and plenty are really horrible. I stumbled upon the KnitPicks podcast (find info here) and for some reason, it worked for me. Her voice is soothing and I got just enough inspiration to start the Clapotis from Knitty.com (pattern here) in a beautiful green Koigu knit on size 6 Addis. There is just enough repetition with some fun to keep it interesting. I needed something to take with me to the beach house to calm me down as it looks like a pretty sticky situation down there right now. Owning property with strangers is--strange to say the least.
Blogging sounded like such a fun idea. I have a hard time keeping up. I think I might use this to keep track of thoughts as I feel like we are heading into a new chapter in our lives. We have lost 3 very loved grandparents in the last few years, Kyle is off at college on the other side of the country, I'm thinking of changing careers (health care design) and Lisa is driving. Watch out! I forgot what it was like to sit next to someone as they learn the rules of the road. She definitely knows the rules--it's the other stuff that makes the grey hair grow by the minute.
